Here is your official guide to some of the best events happening in and around the Reno/Sparks/Lake Tahoe region. The “WW” is published each month for my family, friends and real estate clients. Hopefully you find it helpful while navigating the many opportunities for fun that Northern Nevada has to offer! And if you ever have an event you would like me to feature in a future issue, please email me the details. I am always looking for great content to share!

MIDTOWN RENO
For those of you who have lived in Reno-Sparks a while, you may remember one of the biggest social mixers of the month, “First Thursday,” that used to be held at the Nevada Museum of Art. Treat yourself to a day at your favorite Midtown Reno retailers, services, bars, and restaurants on March 3 and every First Thursday. Our local businesses have planned exciting in-store events including food and beverage tastings, local art exhibits, live music, and more. Start the first weekend of March off right, and GO! SATURDAY, MARCH 5 (7 pm) and SUNDAY, MARCH 6 (2 pm) RENO LITTLE THEATER
Broadway in the H.O.O.D., a national theater program based out of Las Vegas, makes its way to Reno Little Theater for two performances of American Son. Here, an estranged biracial couple collides as they confront an unexpected crisis involving their son, the police, and an abandoned car. An exchange of contrasting histories and backgrounds reveal assumptions as they try to find out what happened to their son. This riveting Broadway play was also adapted into a Netflix television special. For showtimes, advanced ticket sales and more info about COVID-19 rules, visit RenoLittleTheater.org.

DAUGHTRY: THE DEARLY BELOVED TOUR FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 2022 (7:30 pm)
GRAND SIERRA RESORT
Singer/musician Chris Daughtry made a huge impression on the post-grunge scene and the world when he starred on Season 5 of American Idol back in winter/spring 2006. After a surprising 4th place finish (I thought he should have won that season) he gathered his crew and formed the instantly successful rock band Daughtry. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in November that same year and in nine weeks was Number One on the Billboard chart. Among Daughtry’s most popular hits are “Home,” “What About Now” and “Life After You.” Get to know Daughtry and find the link to purchase tickets at GrandSierraResort.com.

THE GO-GO’S FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 2022 (8 pm)
GRAND SIERRA RESORT
I distinctly remember the first time I was hooked on the infectious songs of The Go-Go’s as a kiddo. My big sister and her besties allowed me to hang out with them in her friend’s room where we sang along to the record player blasting The Go-Go’s debut album, Beauty and the Beat. T hat hit album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, spawning hit singles like “Our Lips Are Sealed” and “We Got the Beat.” The band’s follow-up album Vacation, experienced a similar success in 1982, landing two more hits on the charts and reaching certified Gold. Following an initial breakup in 1985, the band’s members embarked on various solo ventures, reuniting periodically over the years to record and tour. Enjoy a night of ALL the songs you know and love from the early 80’s! Ticket may be purchased through GrandSierraResort.com!

COMEDIAN ANJELAH JOHNSON-REYES SATURDAY, MARCH 26, 2022 (8 pm) SILVER LEGACY RESORT CASINO – GRANDE EXPOSITION HALL
I personally fell in love with Anjelah Johnson-Reyes‘ comedy when her hilarious “Nail Salon” video went viral around 2008. The former “Oakland Raider cheerleader-turned stand-up-comedian” moved to LA when she was about 23 years old when a friend suggested she join a joke-writing class. Improv classes quickly led to her headlining her own shows. Today, Anjelah is one of America’s favorite comedians. She has a book that is about to be released, she hosts a podcast and she tours the country performing side-splitting comedy to sold-out audiences. You go, Girl!! Check out the “Anjelah Johnson and her Husband Argue Latino Culture Rankings” video here from 2021, and buy your tickets to see her live in Reno at Anjelah.com.
