Welcome to
THE WEEKEND WARRIOR
The Weekend Warrior is your guide for the best events happening around the Reno/Sparks/Lake Tahoe region! Let me tell you… It feels GREAT to get out and DO again!!  The next several weeks are FULL of fun events and activities for us to flee our houses for a few hour and enjoy!  Here is a healthy offering of what’s going on from mid-June to mid-July 2021!
RENO STREET FOOD – AKA FOOD TRUCK FRIDAY
EVERY FRIDAY THRU AUGSUT 27 (4-9 pm)
IDLEWILD PARK
WHOA!  Last week’s opening night at Reno Street Food’s “Food Truck Friday,” after missing last year, was a doozie!  With more event-goers than I’ve ever seen at the weekly event, and 40 food and beverage trucks lining Idlewild Park to serve us, the crowdedness didn’t matter. My friends and I still had a fantastic evening, hanging on the grass on our Tommy Bahama chairs, savoring our yummy gourmet food truck fare, and chilling to live music.  Friendly dogs on leashes are welcome. On cool evenings, don’t forget your throw or blanket to keep you snuggly and extend your experience.  For more info, visit the Reno Street Food Facebook Page.
ARTISANS on the LANDING
SATURDAY, JUNE 12 (10am-2pm)

And don’t forget the tenacious and courageous spirit of those beloved “Mutton Busters!”  These kiddos give it their ALL while grabbing wool for dear life atop a sheep tearing across the arena at full speed!!  Nothing beats the sites, sounds and pageantry of the rodeo, complete with a stunning Sierra sunset to create an evening of fun and enjoyment. FEATURED RECIPE … A BLAST FROM THE PAST
LEMON-BASIL SHRIMP WITH COUSCOUS

Craving a light, flavorful meal that a will leave you feeling completely satisfied this summer?  This Lemon-Basil Shrimp with CousCous concoction may be just the perfect thing.  This healthy and delicious meal is a blast form the past that I recently pulled out of my archives, and it paired brilliantly with Intercoastal Vineyard’s estate grown 2019 Pinot Grigio that you can order online at InterCoastalWine.com.  The palate is greeted with each sip, presenting flavors of a crisp golden delicious apple, a spritz of lemon-lime and a hint of honey with a beautiful minerality on the finish!  The meal itself was inspired by Blog.WIlliam-Sonoma.com. For MY version of the recipe, visit my Favorite Recipes Blog at DeniseHallerbach.com.
