Known as a “deep, artful thinker whose singular approach to song-writing and sonics sets him worlds apart,” José González makes his way to Reno for one special performance. He truly is in a “class by himself.” Raised in Sweden of Argentine parents who, in 1976 fled the “Dirty War,” he grew up in Gothenburg, a Swede oceanside city with great musical diversity and several large annual music festivals. González grew up listening to Latin folk and pop music, with Silvio Rodríguez topping his favorites list. That list also included Michael Jackson and Bob Marley. The international singer/musician is currently touring and performing with The String Theory and play at the Pioneer Friday night.
