The Weekend Warrior (March 19-??)

WELCOME TO

THE WEEKEND WARRIOR

RECONNECT WITH YOUR FAMILY
Have you noticed that life has turned into a bit of a rat-race lately?  As strange as the Coronavirus halt of normal activity has been, to some degree, it’s blessing in disguise on many levels.  It’s the one global event that is slowing us ALL down, and a good opportunity to reconnect with our families.  For “3 Great Tips for Reconnecting with Your Family,” visit PsychCentral.com.

ORGANIZE YOUR CLOSET
How long has it been since you’ve done a sweep of your closet to make it clean and clutter free?  Perhaps it’s time to yank those clothes you haven’t worn for several years, and drop them at a donation center (if the donation center is open), or just organize your wardrobe.  Visit RealSimple.com to learn about the “10 Secrets Only Professional Closet Organizers Know.”

CURL UP WITH A GOOD BOOK

NOISES OFF!
PLAYING THRU SATURDAY, APRIL 4 (DAYS VARY BY WEEK)
GOOD LUCK MACBETH THEATRE

It’s Weekend #2 of Michael Frayn’s Noises Off at Good Luck Macbeth Theatre this weekend!  The play, brimming with slapstick comedy, takes a fond look at the follies of theatre folk, whose susceptibility to out-of-control egos, memory loss, and passionate affairs turn every performance into a high-risk adventure. It is more specifically a play-within-a-play that captures a touring theatre troupe’s production of ‘Nothing On’ in three stages: dress rehearsal, the opening performance, and a performance towards the end of a debilitating run.  Frayne gives us a window into the inner workings of theatre behind the scenes, progressing from flubbed lines and missed cues in the dress rehearsal to mounting friction between cast members in the final performance. This delightful production runs through April 4!  For tickets and more info, please visit GoodLuckMacbeth.org.

All troubles, real & imaginary, are relieved by laughter in this slapstick comedy at Reno Little Theatre. The Imaginary Invalid is a zany little production about a hypochondriac who complains of a million imaginary ailments consequently drumming up astronomical medical bills. He concocts a plan to wed his daughter to a doctor in hopes of receiving free medical care, but she has her eye on another.  Written by Moliére and adopted by Milles Malleson, this local play opens this weekend and runs through March.  For show days/times and more info, please visit RenoLittleTheatre.org.

FEATURED RECIPE
COCONUT MISO SALMON CURRY

What a great change from my “usual,” a treat for my family AND quick/easy to prepare!  I was so happy to find Coconut-Miso Salmon Curry at Cooking.NYTimes.com.”This light, delicate weeknight curry comes together in less than 30 minutes and is defined by its deep miso flavor. Miso is typically whisked into soups toward the end of the recipe, but sweating it directly in the pot with ginger, garlic and a little oil early on helps the paste caramelize, intensifying its earthy sweetness. Adding coconut milk creates a rich broth that works with a wide range of seafood… A squeeze of lime and a flurry of fresh herbs keep this curry bright and citrusy.”  Learn how to make it on My Favorite Recipes Blog or Cooking.NYTimes.com.
