It’s Weekend #2 of Michael Frayn’s Noises Off at Good Luck Macbeth Theatre this weekend!  The play, brimming with slapstick comedy, takes a fond look at the follies of theatre folk, whose susceptibility to out-of-control egos, memory loss, and passionate affairs turn every performance into a high-risk adventure. It is more specifically a play-within-a-play that captures a touring theatre troupe’s production of ‘Nothing On’ in three stages: dress rehearsal, the opening performance, and a performance towards the end of a debilitating run.  Frayne gives us a window into the inner workings of theatre behind the scenes, progressing from flubbed lines and missed cues in the dress rehearsal to mounting friction between cast members in the final performance. Joey shows us the life he used to lead and why he chose to end it.  But we also see the unexpected effect of his death on his classmates, teachers, and his family.  Note that this show deals with a very sensitive subject matter, possibly triggering to some audience members. It’s been 100 years since the roaring 20’s!  What better way to celebrate the centennial marking than to also support youth tennis at A Roaring 20’s Gala!  Sierra Junior Tennis Association is throwing it’s annual fundraising bash in an effort to quadruple the group’s outreach, providing free tennis and learning programs to under-resourced youth in Northern Nevada.  Last year, they touched the lives of 1,000 children. Nevada Museum of Art is not only a place to admire great art, but it’s the perfect place to bring out the Van Gough in each of us!  Artists of all ages are invited to learn new skills in a variety of artistic expression each weekend.  This weekend, the following art instruction:Growing Artists Series (Sat, Jan 18, 9-10:30 am) – Designed for young artists 2-6 years old.  Offers the exploration of different art medium and basic art skills, and an introduction to the building blocks of art that will provide a solid foundation for future art lovers and artists.
Camera Basics for DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras (Sun., Jan 19 & 26) – For ages 15+.  Designed for beginning to intermediate photographers who have purchased a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, which is a camera with removable lenses. Explore the specific features of DSLR cameras, as well as general photographic skills and techniques to make great pictures.
Fused Glass Snowman (Sun, Jan 19, 11 am-2 pm) – For ages 15+ and all levels.  Learn to cut and assemble flat fusing glass while learning more about color designs and patterns.  Experiment with frits, stringers, rods and other fun materials. No heat involved and no experience necessary!
